The present Upland 207 Pellet Stove is based on a wood stove produced in Greene, NY by the Upland Stove Company from 1977 to 1988. Many of the 80,000 produced are still in service.
NU-TEC purchased Upland designs and brand in 1989. None of the wood stoves were put back into production. New models were designed from the bottom up to to meet E.P.A Standards.
Peter Albertsen selected the Upland 207 body for the pellet stove project because of its attactive design and large surface area that would promote efficient radiant heating while hiding a large capacity hopper. Approximately 100 stoves were produced in 1994. Models that could be tracked down were still being used. Gear motors and combustion air nozzles were only items that were periodically replaced.
Over the years Peter continued to tweek the original design for better performance He started working full time on a redesign or update of this model several years ago.
The best features of the original were retained and improved in the present Upland 207 Pellet Stove.
Peter Albertsen is a past President of the Northeast Hearth Products and Barbeque Association.
