Each of the models on

during the years of seventeen and eighteen hundreds. You will recognize
the various styles in museums and in fine reproduction furniture produced

Townsend and Townsend II
(Neoclassical French) This is an American style that
was influenced initially by French immigrants both in
Canada, in the balance of the country, and in the Southern part of the United States in the late 1700's.
The popularity of this motif spread through the early and mid
1800's.

It is a mix of the
elaborate curves and bonnets common to French design and the practicality
necessary in the new continent. The classical elements also include
fluted columns and crisp
moldings. | |
